Where did the earliest ancestors of modern-day human live?

A large portion of human evolution took place in the continent of Africa. According to fossil records, early humans are thought to have evolved between 6 and 2 million years ago in eastern and southern Africa. 

Around this time, the hominids or human-like beings diverged from other primates, evolved, and became bipedal to survive in nature.

Thus, the modern-day human species has evolved from its earliest ancestors who lived in Africa.
