Detailed Solution

The forest satyagraha broke out in the Central Provinces in the 1930s. The British government decided to give small plots of land to jhum cultivators so they could cultivate in the forests on the condition that village residents would be required to work for the Forest Department and maintain the forests. The Forest Department built forest villages across many regions to guarantee a steady supply of low-cost labour. There was opposition to these colonial forest laws among many tribal groups. They continued to act illegally, disobeyed the new laws, and on occasion, they openly rebelled. Songram Sangma's uprising in Assam in 1906 and the Central Provinces' forest satyagraha in the 1930s are two examples of these uprisings.
