Kheda Satyagraha was launched in the Kheda district of Gujarat in 1917. The peasants of the Kheda district could not pay the revenue because they get affected by the plague. Gandhiji and Sardar launched this Satyagraha against the tax increase. It was all about the people of Kheda who suffered from famine and plague (epidemic). They were not able to pay the revenues because of the epidemic. There was a rule of Britishers that if the crop yielded was one-fourth of land or failure of the crops then no tax applied. Britishers did not follow it in Kheda.
