Where do reptiles lay their eggs?

Reptiles are adapted for life on land. They lay amniotic eggs covered with soft leathery or calcium-containing shells. This allows the eggs to be laid on land. 

Some reptiles like turtles lay their eggs in shallow pits covered with sand, while many lay in crevices among rocks or stones. Crocodiles build a nursery and guard their eggs till they hatch.
