Detailed Solution

Origin: The Ganga River begins from the Gangotri Glacier located at Gaumukh in Uttarakhand, India. Its initial stream is known as the Bhagirathi River.

Formation: At Devprayag, the Bhagirathi River meets the Alaknanda River. From this confluence onward, the river is officially called the Ganga.

Course and End: The Ganga travels about 2,525 kilometers, flowing through northern India and into Bangladesh. It finally empties into the Bay of Bengal, creating the vast Sundarbans Delta—the largest delta in the world—along with its distributaries like the Meghna River.
