Where is Jamaica located?

Jamaica is an island country in the Caribbean Sea. More precisely:

• It lies south of Cuba (about 90 miles or 145 km) and west of Hispaniola (the island shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic) by about 119 miles (191 km). (
• Coordinates roughly 17°-19° N latitude and 76°-79° W longitude.
• Capital city: Kingston, located on the south coast. So if you look at the map of the Caribbean, Jamaica sits in the Greater Antilles archipelago, floating in the sea between some of the bigger islands.
