Detailed Solution

Lyon is situated in South France.
The French Revolution resulted from unsettled times in France. The silk industry suffered due to the collapse of the domestic economy and the closure of outside markets. In 1793, Montagnard's republican forces besieged the city. During the French Revolution, Lyon was the focal point of a counter-revolutionary movement against the National Convention. It was a moderate uprising against the National Convention, the third administration of the French Revolution, which was more radical. However, it was suppressed after government forces besieged the city in 1793. Thus the city of Lyon was under siege and eventually taken by the French Republican forces.
