Detailed Solution

The archaeological site Hallur is located in Karnataka. In the Haveri district (which was created by separating the Dharwad district) lies the archaeological site known as Hallur.
It is the earliest Iron Age site in South India which is situated on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in a semi-arid area with scrub vegetation. The location is a 6.4 m high low mound. Nagaraja Rao made the initial discovery of the site in 1962, and excavation began in 1965. The house constructions discovered here had circular flooring made of schist chips and mud crushed into a firm surface. The conical thatched roof was supported by mud and bamboo walls.
