Detailed Solution

The Badrinath Temple is located in the town of Badrinath, Uttarakhand, in the Himalayas at an elevation of about 10,800 feet. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Badrinarayan, the temple is a central part of the Char Dham Yatra and also one of the 108 Divya Desams revered in Vaishnavism. It sits on the banks of the Alaknanda River and is believed to have been originally established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 9th century CE. The temple remains open only for six months a year due to extreme weather. Pilgrims believe visiting Badrinath helps attain moksha (liberation).
