Where is the Peanut Festival in Bangalore?

The Peanut Festival, locally called Kadalekai Parishe, takes place in Basavanagudi, one of Bengaluru’s oldest neighborhoods. The main festivities center around the Dodda Basavana Gudi (Bull Temple) on Bull Temple Road. 

The area transforms into a vibrant fairground with hundreds of stalls and thousands of visitors. The festival began centuries ago when farmers offered the first groundnut harvest to Lord Basava to protect their crops. 

Today, it is both a religious event and a cultural fair, drawing locals and tourists alike. Streets like Bugle Rock Road and Gandhi Bazaar become packed with vendors selling roasted peanuts, jaggery sweets, local snacks, and handmade crafts. 

Traditional music and folk dance performances add to the festive energy. Beyond its commercial side, Kadalekai Parishe remains a symbol of Bengaluru’s roots, representing gratitude for the harvest and unity between urban residents and rural farmers. It’s a key annual event that connects modern Bangalore with its agrarian past.
