Sri Narayan Guru was born in Kerala.
The Satnami movement was started in Central India by Ghasidas, a leather worker who organised a campaign to improve their social standing. In the state of Kerala, Shri Narayana Guru, an Ezhava caste guru, preached the ideas of unity and oneness to his followers. He fought caste-based prejudice against individuals. All persons, in his view, belonged to the same caste. He held that there was only one caste, one religion, and one God for all of humanity.
