The earliest kind of print technology developed in the East Asian countries of China, Korea, and Japan. The print technology in these countries began with Sahana handdhandnting, and hand printing was the earliest form of print technology to be developed in China, Korea, and Japan. In China, rubbing paper began to be used for books from AD 594. In this technique, the rubbing paper was used against the inked surface of woodblocks. In Japan as well, woodblock printing continued. In Korea, movable print technology came into use in 1230.
