Detailed Solution

The famous Tennis Court Oath was taken in the Palace of Versailles.
Members of the third estate believed they were speaking on behalf of all French citizens when they convened on June 20 in the tennis court hall inside the Versailles Palace's gardens. They constituted themselves as the National Assembly and swore allegiance to one another until they had drafted a French constitution that would limit the monarch's power, finally resulting in the infamous Tennis Court oath. Mirabeau and Abbe Sieyes led them. Born in an affluent family, Mirabeau grew disenchanted with his social status and believed that a civilisation built on feudal privilege should be abandoned. He took out a notebook and delivered moving speeches to the Versailles audience.
