Detailed Solution

The first cotton mill in India was set up in Bombay.
Technically, the first cotton mill was established at Fort Glaston somewhere around 1818 in Calcutta. But unfortunately, it was a failure, and hence it's not considered in the list. Thus, when KGN Daber set up a second cotton mill in Bombay in 1854, he was known as the true founder of the modern cotton industry in India. The name of the first cotton mill was Bombay Spinning and Weaving Company, Bombay. The Bombay Cotton Mill developed as a significant part of the trade of crude cotton from India to England and China.
