Detailed Solution

The flag was designed in Bengal during the Swadeshi Movement. The self-sufficiency movement known as the Swadeshi was a part of the Indian independence struggle and aided in the growth of Indian nationalism. As the national movement grew, nationalist leaders were more and more conscious of the power of icons and symbols to unite people and foster a sense of nationalism in them. During the Bengali swadeshi movement, an eight-lotus and crescent-shaped tricolour flag was created.
The flag's primary characteristics were
1)      Yellow, green, and red were the colours of the flag.
1)      The flag had eight lotuses, each of which stood for one of the eight distinct British provinces in India.
2)      The crescent moon on the flag, which symbolises both Hinduism and Islam, represents both of India's major religions.
