Detailed Solution

The Battle of Waterloo effectively decided France's fate.
On June 18, 1815, at Waterloo in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Battle of Waterloo took place (present-day Belgium). Hence this war ended Napoleon's reign in Europe by defeating his army of French soldiers. Following his coronation as King of France in 1804, Napoleon travelled to Europe to promote democracy and liberty throughout the region. He believed he had modernised Europe by enacting the Civil Code of 1804. Therefore, he set out to establish kingdoms where he and his kin would rule. Many people first saw Napoleon as a liberator who would secure the independence of the populace. However, the Napoleonic army was soon viewed as an occupying force.
