Forest is a large area covered with trees. Trees help in maintaining the level of oxygen and carbon dioxide in nature. Just like lungs corresponds with exchange of gases in body, when so many trees of the forest does the same work, it impacts the gaseous exchange in nature. Hence, forests act as green lungs in nature.
