The battle of Panipat was not an event of modern India. The battle of Panipat was fought in Medieval India during the Mughal period. It was fought between Babur and Ibrahim Lodhi. Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodhi in the first battle of Panipat on 21 April 1526 and established the Mughal dynasty in the first battle of Panipat. The Second battle of Panipat was fought between Hemu (the Hindu general of Muhammad Adil Shah) and Bairam Khan (Akbar's regent). Hemu was defeated. The third battle of Panipat resulted in the defeat of Marathas by Ahmad shah abdal on 14 January 1761.
