There are 22 languages given in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. According to Articles 344 (1) and 351 of the Constitution, 22 languages are recognized in the Eighth Schedule as Scheduled Languages. These languages are: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Maithili, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Angika is a variant of the Maithili language of the Anga region in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. It is spoken in Nepal as well. Angika is not a Scheduled language.
