The Doctrine of Lapse introduced by Warren hasting is not true about the doctrine of lapse. It was an annexation/expropriation policy implemented primarily by Lord Dalhousie, the then Governor General of India, from 1848 to 1856. The Doctrine of Lapse stated that if a princely state ended up dead without a biological male heir, that state would be administered by the British East India Company. The British East India Company used the Doctrine of Lapse until 1859 to expand their rule over the remaining territory.
