Objective Resolution laid down the basic ideas of the Indian Constitution. During the first session of the Constituent Assembly in 1946, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru presented the Objective Resolution before the assembly members, and it was unanimously passed. This Resolution laid down the basic ideas and principles according to which the constituent assembly was supposed to frame the constitution. The basic ideas and expressions of the fundamental commitments and notions like equality, sovereignty, republic, democracy, social justice, liberty and freedom, and many more were given by the objective Resolution. It guided the assembly in the process of constitution framing and, thus, proved to be the basis of the Indian political system.
