Galvanization is the process by which a protective layer of zinc coating is applied on to the iron and steel to prevent it from rusting. The metal zinc is used in this process because when zinc is in contact with steel or iron then the oxygen and acid will attack on zinc rather than attacking on steel and iron beneath.
