Detailed Solution

Demand for a democratic government was not a cause of the Russian revolution.
The leading causes of this revolution were the lack of food supplies, the consequences of Bloody Sunday, and the effects of World War I on Russia's economy and society. One of the leading causes of this revolution was an autocracy. Russia's famed Czar Alexander II rose due to the changes he introduced. However, his successors, such as Czars Alexander III and Nicholas II, grew to be quite despotic. Political parties like Meer, Jemstvo, and Duma lost their influence while in office. Unrest in society already existed, and their policies and actions only served to fuel it. Thus, one of the primary causes became the Czars' authoritarian control.
