Detailed Solution

US entry in 1917 was the single most important factor in the victory of Allied powers in World War I.
Germany gained ground when it invaded France and Belgium. However, the US entry into the war in 1917 gave the Allies more power, and they ultimately prevailed, taking control of Germany and the Central Powers in November 1918. At the time, the war involved numerous European nations as well as their colonies abroad. There were two groupings made up of the Central Powers and the Allied Powers. Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey served as the Central Powers, while the Allies included France, Britain and her empire, Russia, Italy, Japan, and, starting in 1917, the United States of America. There were primarily two fronts or lines of battle in the conflict. The Eastern Front ran from the Baltic to the Black Sea, and from Belgium to France.
