Detailed Solution

West Bengal is the leading producers of rice. Rice is a staple food in India. Most Indians used to consume it, as it grows in a major part of the country. Earlier, growing rice in the western and north-western parts of India was impossible. Still, after the facilities of irrigation, the cultivation of rice is even possible in those areas as well. Some of the requirements for rice cultivation are temperature must be above 25 degrees Celsius and humidity must also be high with an annual rainfall of more than 100 cm. And there are also some areas where rainfall is less; in those areas, rice cultivation is possible with the help of irrigational facilities. Besides West Bengal and Assam, rice is also grown in Odisha, Punjab, Haryana, and some parts of Rajasthan.
