Which animal can locate their way in the dark?

The clever construction of cats' eyes accounts for their superior night vision. They have a big lens and bent cornea, and in dim light, their pupils can enlarge to full circles to let in the most light possible. Cats' eyes have entirely different photoreceptors from those of humans. Humans have more cones, which improve their ability to detect colours and daylight, whereas cats have more rods, which are responsible for night, peripheral vision, and motion perception. Cats can see better in dim light thanks to the large number of rods in their eyes, but they can't see as well as people in bright light.
