A species is declared extinct when there are no living representatives of a species on the planet.

The Asiatic Cheetah was declared extinct In India in the year 1952.

It was in the year 1947 when Maharaja Ramanuj Pratap Singh Deo of Chhattisgarh shot dead the remaining three Asiatic Cheetahs in India. This brought an end to the population of Asiatic Cheetahs. Later in 1952, the IUCN declared this species extinct.
