Detailed Solution

Article 17 of the constitution states that untouchability has been abolished. Untouchability is a social practice that looks down on specific oppressed classes based on their caste and discriminates against them on that basis. The abolition of untouchability is a significant move taken by the Indian government in reaction to the injustices done to the marginalised in the context of a hierarchical social structure. It is presently outlawed, and any type of practice is absolutely prohibited under Article 17 of the Indian Constitution. If somebody is caught breaking the law and practising untouchability, it will be regarded as a crime punished by law.
