Detailed Solution

Article 48 of the Weimar Constitution gave the President the power to suspend civil rights.
The period of the Weimar Republic of Germany was from 1919 to 1933. Article 48 was invoked by President Paul von Hindenburg in 1930 to deal with the economic crisis prevalent in the country. This article provided powers to the President to impose an emergency in times of national danger and can rule as a dictator for short periods. Therefore, it was deemed a dangerous article as it gave authoritarian power to the President, who could rule by decree. Moreover, prior consent by Reichstag was not required to declare a state of emergency.
