Detailed Solution

The Battle of Waterloo in 1815 effectively sealed the fate of France.
The Battle of Waterloo occurred on June 18, 1815, close to Waterloo in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. Napoleon's army of French soldiers was defeated, effectively bringing his campaign in Europe to an end. After he was proclaimed the king of France in 1804, he set out to Europe to spread the ideals of democracy and liberty across the continent. Napoleon viewed himself as modernising Europe. Many first considered Napoleon a liberator who would bring about the people's independence. But soon, it was evident that the Napoleonic army was an occupying power. Eventually, in the 1815's Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon was finally defeated.
