The Jallianwala Bagh massacre or the Amritsar massacre of thirteenth April 1919 accounts for the grotesque execution of many innocent individuals by the Gurkha British Indian army on the orders of the then Anglo-Indian brigadier General R.E.H. Dyer. Individuals gathered at Jallianwala to protest against the Rowlatt Act that permits the Britishers to jail protestors for up to two years without any trial. Once individuals gathered to indicate their protest, police opened fire on the unarmed public, killing one thousand innocent individuals and marking nearly 1500 blisters. Jallianwala Bagh became an essential purpose within the history of India’s struggle for independence, and it is currently a necessary monument within the country. The Jallianwala Bagh tragedy was one of the causes that led Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi to start organising his initial large-scale and sustained nonviolent protest (satyagraha) campaign, the Non-Cooperation Movement (1920-22).
