Gold coins are introduced by the Kushans. The  Kushana dynasty ruled over the Northern Part of India, Afghanistan, and some areas of Central Asia Around 2000 years ago. Kanishka was the ruler who founded the Kushans. Comparatively Kushana rulers had the best control over the silk route. During their rule silk trade became extended along different places. It was during their reign the branches of the silk route extended from Central Asia.  Silk was a premium fabric and it was very expensive because it had to be transported through China.  And it was during the time they introduced coins. They are considered to be the earliest rulers who introduced gold coins
