Detailed Solution

Saliya community is famous for weaving in Thanjavur. An Indian caste is known as Saliyar, Saliya, Chaliyan, Sali, and Sale. They are primarily located in northern Kerala, southern coastal Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, where their traditional occupation was weaving. Additionally, flags for religious festivals were made out of these garments. Exquisite bronze idols and tall, decorative bell lamps were produced by the sculptors, or sthapati, in Swamimalai. Fine cotton was produced for the king and the nobles, while coarse cotton was produced for the general populace: nairs, a grouping of 18 Malayali castes, including Saliyas. The Saliya men would actively participate in conflicts and wars as members of Nair pada (Nair brigades).
