Detailed Solution

The Sri Lankan Tamils faced and still face alienation in Srilanka. The reason behind this is the favour of the government of Sri Lanka, which it shows towards the majority community of the country, i.e., the Sinhala Community. It comprises about 71% of the total population of the country. The Tamils in Sri Lanka form only a minority community, and their interests are often overlooked. This gave rise to a strained relationship between the Sinhalas and the Tamils in Srilanka. Moreover, this often causes disputes between Sri Lanka and India, especially with the Tamilian population living in South India. Also, a part of the Tamils living in Sri Lanka is actually Indian Tamils.
