Detailed Solution

Great Britain passed the 'Corn Laws' to restrict the import of corn. Between 1815 and 1846, the United Kingdom imposed tariffs on imported grain and corn. The regulations gained political significance during the grain crisis brought on by Britain's expanding population in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. According to this regulation, no foreign corn would be permitted into Britain until the price of the country's own corn reached 80 shillings per quarter. Aristocrats and other wealthy landowners who wielded control over the majority of high-yielding farmland were at an advantage, thanks to the Corn Laws.
