The French Revolution started in 1789.
The French Revolution also called the Revolution of 1789, had both general causes common to all revolutions of the west at the end of the 18th century and a few particular causes too. However, the first known cause was the social structure of Europe during the time. The feudal regime gradually weakened and disappeared in some parts of France. The increasingly numerous and prosperous elite of wealthy commoners, merchants, manufacturers, and professionals gained prominence in the region. Moreover, the peasants, many of whom owned land, had attained an improved standard of living and education and wanted to get rid of feudalism to acquire the full rights of the owner.
