Which digestive processes takes place in the mouth?

Digestion of food begins in mouth. Both chemical and physical digestion takes place in mouth. The teeth cut the food into small pieces, chew and grind it. So, teeth help in physical digestion. Salivary gland produces saliva that contains amylase enzyme. The amylase enzyme digests the starch present in food into sugar, thereby helping in chemical digestion.
