Which ecosystem has the maximum biomass?

Biomass is the total mass of living organisms in an ecosystem. The forest ecosystem has the maximum biomass compared to the other ecosystems mentioned. Forests have a high density of trees, which are tall, longlived and have a large biomass. In addition to trees, forests also have a diverse range
of other plant and animal species that contribute to the overall biomass.
(1) Grasslands are characterised by a low density of trees and a high density of grasses and herbaceous plants. While the biomass of grasses and herbaceous plants can be high, it is generally lower
than that of trees in forests. 
(2) Ponds are small bodies of water with limited space for organisms to grow and reproduce. While the biomass of algae and other aquatic plants in ponds can be high, the overall biomass is limited due to the small size of the ecosystem. 
(3) Lakes are larger bodies of water than ponds, and they can support a larger  number of organisms. However, the biomass of organisms in lakes is generally lower than that of forests due to the limited amount of primary
production that can occur in the water column.
