Detailed Solution

Cotton is obtained from staple fibre.
The fabric of wool, cotton and flax is made from staple fibres. The staple fibres are divided into short and long staples based on the length of the fibre. Cotton is a short staple fibre because its length is short and its quality is low as compared to other textile fibres. Cotton is a natural fibre that is obtained from the seeds of cotton plants. Cotton fibre production involves four steps: harvesting, ginning, spinning and weaving.
In ginning, fibres are separated from cotton seeds using cotton gin after harvesting and drying the cotton.
