Detailed Solution

Diesel engines are a form of internal combustion engine in which fuel ignition takes place without the use of a spark plug thanks to the compression of the intake air and subsequent fuel injection. Any liquid fuel particularly created for use in a diesel engine is known as diesel fuel, often known as diesel oil. Therefore, it's important to have good compression ignition properties for diesel fuel. The most popular type of diesel fuel is a specific fractional distillate of petroleum, but non-petroleum alternatives including biodiesel, biomass to liquid (BTL), and gas to liquid (GTL) diesel are being developed and used increasingly regularly. In some academic circles, petroleum-derived diesel is sometimes referred to as petrodiesel to distinguish between these kinds.
