Drass is a hill station in the Kargil district of Ladakh, the coldest place in India. Drass is 3350 m above sea level; it is the coldest place in India and the earth's second coldest inhabited region. The average temperature of drass during the winter season is as low as -23 ºC, which lasts from mid-October to mid-May. In Drass, summers start in June and end in early September, with average temperatures near 23 °C and little precipitation.
