The oral cavity comprises everything inside the mouth, like the teeth, tongue, salivary glands, epiglottis, and tonsils. Since the food enters the human body through the mouth and digestion begins here, the buccal cavity is considered the entrance to the digestive system. It extends from the mouth to the anus. The teeth help to cut down on food. The throat begins in the buccal cavity and carries food into the oesophagus or the food pipe. The epiglottis covers the windpipe to prevent food or water from entering it. Tonsils and salivary glands are present in different areas of the oral cavity.
