Detailed Solution

The High Court is the highest judicial authority at the state level. Article 214 of the Constitution of India mentions the powers and authorities of the High Courts. Currently, there are twenty-five High Courts in India. The High Courts only have civil or criminal jurisdiction when the subordinate courts cannot hear the matters. Cases that are not resolved in civil and criminal courts of the districts are often appealed in the High Courts. The Supreme Court, the Apex court of India, has the authority to consider appeals from lower courts and appeals from the High Courts of state.
