Detailed Solution

The river Godavari is the largest peninsular river. This river appears from the slopes of western ghats in the Nasik district, located in Maharashtra. It has the largest drainage basin among the other peninsular rivers. It drains into the Bay of Bengal, and the basin covers regions of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh. The river Godavari is joined by various tributaries such as Purna, Wardha, Manjra, and Penang. These tributaries are very large and are referred to as Dakshin Ganga because of their length and the areas they cover.
