Detailed Solution

Senior citizens are the particular target group under the Annapurna Scheme.
The special target group under the Annapurna Scheme are senior citizens above 65 years of age who remained uncovered or could not get the benefits of NOAPS, which is the National Old Age Pension Scheme. The Annapurna Scheme was launched in April 2000 to provide food grains of about 10 kg per month, free of cost, to those senior citizens who don't have any source of income or aren't getting any pension. Also, according to the scheme, the person who is a beneficiary should not have any support from the family. In other words, senior citizens who don't have anyone to take care of them can apply and get the benefits of this scheme.
