Detailed Solution

The monsoon enters the Indian subcontinent from the southern tip.
The southwest monsoon winds enter India as two branches - the Arabian Sea branch causing heavy rainfall in the south, southwest, and northern parts of India, and the Bay of Bengal branch, causing moderate to heavy rain in the northeast. The monsoons entering India during the first week of June last for 100-120 days, till mid-September. The monsoon touches the Kerala coast in the southernmost part of India at the beginning of June. The Arabian Sea branch reaches the Mumbai coast around June 10 and the states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana during the first week of July. It reaches the northernmost parts like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Kashmir by mid-July.
