Detailed Solution

During oogenesis primary oocyte undergoes first meiotic division. This results in the formation of two daughter cells. These are secondary oocyte and a first polar body. These are unequal in size. Polar bodies are much smaller in diameter than the oocyte because the cytoplasm is retained in bulk in the secondary oocyte. This occurs because the secondary oocyte will get converted into ovum and if it gets fertilized will form zygote. Hence the retained cytoplasm will act as stored food for the developing zygote. This is the main difference between oogenesis and meiosis division in other cells.
