Detailed Solution

Louis XVI recognised the National Assembly to deal with widespread revolts in the Empire.
As a result of the influence of his revolting subjects in the Bastille and the countryside, Louis XVI finally recognised the National Assembly. He agreed that a constitution would now be the primary check on his power. The Assembly enacted a law on August 4, 1789, ending the feudal duties and taxes system. The clergy was also required to renounce its privileges. Tithes were eliminated, and the Church's lands were taken. The constitution was completed in 1791 by the National Assembly. However, limiting the monarch's authority was its principal goal.
