Detailed Solution

The whites spoke Afrikaans in South Africa. Afrikaans is a West Germanic language spoken mainly in South Africa, Namibia, and, to a lesser degree, Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It came from the Dutch dialect of Holland (Hollandic vernacular), spoken by European settlers (Dutch, French, and German) and their slaves in South Africa. Over the 18th century, it began to have its features. Most linguists think that Afrikaans is only partly a creole language and not a creole language. Linguists who study Afrikaans agree that it is only partly creole.
Even though Afrikaans has borrowed words from other languages, like German and the Khoisan languages, between 90 and 95 per cent of its words come from the Dutch language. So, Afrikaans is often different from Dutch because their morphology and grammar are more analytical, and their spelling is more like Afrikaans than standard Dutch. There is a lot of common ground between the two languages, especially when they are written down.
