Detailed Solution

Corn Laws allowed the British government to restrict the import of corn.
In the 18th century, the demand for food grains increased in Britain due to population growth. The adaptiveness to changing patterns of food was good. As the new centres expanded, there was an increase in the price of agricultural products and food grains. This led Britain to the problem. The British government passed this under the pressure of land owners because of high food grain prices. After all that the land owner also pressured the government, and the government restricted the import of corn by laws. This was also known as the “Corn Laws.”
